Pre-Kindergarten!

Hello! This is my 5th year teaching at Divine Providence. I began teaching kindergarten at St. Francis of Rome and then taught 3, 4 & 5 year olds at First United in Oak Park.
I think there are a lot of memorable moments throughout the year. When a child finally learns to tie a shoe; or discovers how to build a bridge for the train; or can print all the letters in his/her name; or creates new color paint at the easel…these are all magical moments.
My favorite part of the day is reading with the children. I get to reread some of my favorite books as well as share new stories. The enjoyment is contagious and he children’s participation is an integral part of the process. When I ask “What do you think…?” there are some surprising scenarios! I hope that this simple activity helps to set the stage for learning and a joy of reading that will continue throughout their lives.
I am privileged to share in the excitement and enthusiasm of learning with young children. When they move on, I get to do it again with a new group of children. What a great job!
