3rd Grade

Welcome to 3rd Grade!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

My name is Sarah Cammarata and I am the third grade teacher here at Divine Providence School. This is my fifth year of teaching and my fifth year here at DP. I grew up in Westchester. I’m an alumna of Divine Providence. I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in mathematics, from Elmhurst College. I have a Master’s degree from Concordia University. I am a certified Reading Specialist.
When I attended Divine Providence, Mrs. Blasé was my second grade teacher. She made such an impression on me, that since that time I felt I also wanted to be a teacher. One of the reasons I love teaching is because it is such a rewarding job. Not only am I given the opportunity to guide students in their quest for learning and intellectual growth but also I am constantly learning from them.
Third grade is an important year in learning and is a challenging one. The students become more independent and are presented with a vast amount of new academic concepts and learning strategies. For example, students are no longer learning to read, they are reading to learn. They will work on research reports, learn their multiplication and division facts, and explore new topics with inquiry-based Social Studies and Science units. I am looking forward to a new year of learning and fun!
