Hello!  I am Dana Veselsky and I am the 1st grade teacher here a Divine Providence school.  This will be my 5th year here at DP.  I have a total of 11 years experience in teaching.  I have also taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten.  

I am a graduate of Eastern Illinois University; this is where I received my Bachelor of Science in Education.  I studied Early Childhood Education with my areas of concentration in psychology and sociology.  I have always loved school and education. I use to play school as a child and always had to be the teacher.  There are many reasons why I became a teacher but the one that stands out the most is my 8th grade teacher. (I also went to Catholic school.)  My 8th grade teacher believed in me and taught me with a little hard work you can accomplish anything.  

I am so excited about this up coming school year.  First grade is such an important year for reading, writing and math.  I am looking forward to using the Superkids Language Arts program again in my classroom.  It is truly amazing to see 1st graders come into my classroom in September not reading and by January reading chapter books.  I am also happy about our new math series that we will be using here at DP.  The last thing I would like to add about teaching here at DP is the staff and parents.  I have met some amazing people here at Divine Providence.  The people here make me want to come back every year.  The parents really care about their children and the education that they are receiving.  The staff here is so talented and I am so lucky to work with them.
